Calling All Water & Sewer Authorities Records Managers!

TWater/Sewer Authorities and Sanitary Districts Records Retention and Disposition Schedulehe State Archives of North Carolina is updating the local Water/Sewer Authorities and Sanitary Districts Records Retention and Disposition Schedule. The current schedule, published in 2004, is located here. If you work for a water & sewer authority or a sanitary district, we want your suggestions for changes and improvements. For example:

What records series are missing from the schedule and should be added?

What records series on the current schedule are no longer created by water & sewer authorities and sanitary districts?

What retention periods should be changed?

What regulatory, legal, and business practice changes since 2004 affect water & sewer authority and sanitary district records?

This schedule applies to local water & sewer authorities and sanitary districts. County utilities use Standard 15 of the County Management schedule, while municipal utilities use Standard 17 of the Municipal schedule.

Please contact me at 919-807-7357 or kurt.brenneman@ncdcr.gov with your suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you!
