NC Digital Heritage Center launches “North Carolina Sights and Sounds” online collection

As announced on our other blog, History For All the People, an exciting new digital collection is now available through the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center: Welcome to the Movies! North Carolina Sights and Sounds. With funding from the Digital Public Library of America and the Knight Foundation, the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center collaborated with the 11 institutions, including the State Archives of North Carolina, to identify, digitize, and make publicly accessible over 140 audio and video media elements.

Some of the selected media were 16mm state agency films, including selections from the North Carolina Film Board, Wildlife Resources Commission, North Carolina Bicentennial Committee, and Historic Sites. The State Archives also provided films from the Special Collections (private donations to our holdings).
