FREE Regional Workshops on Confidentiality and Filing Systems

Do you have trouble finding your records? Is your hard drive filling up faster than it should?

Do you get nervous when a public records request comes in because you might accidentally release something you shouldn’t? Are you unsure how to redact an electronic document safely?

If the answer to any of these four questions is “yes,” then come to one of the State Archives of North Carolina’s 15 workshops across the state and learn in depth about confidentiality and filing systems.

Each 90-minute workshop will give you information and strategies that can help your office run more smoothly. The workshop on confidentiality discusses state and federal laws that close a record from public inspection, while the workshop on files and filing systems shows how you can improve efficiency within your office with proven organizational strategies. Combined, these workshops provide 3 hours of training in records management. Attendees from County Register of Deeds and County Tax Administration offices are eligible for continuing education credit.

All workshops are free of charge and open to all state and local government employees. The Confidentiality workshop will be held from 1-2:30 and the Files & Filing workshop will be held from 2:30-4:00.

If you would like to attend one of these workshops, please contact Emily Hanna ( for a registration form. We will confirm your registration by email, and send out a reminder one week before the workshop for the location you have indicated.

Here are the dates and locations where we’ll be holding the workshops. Please note that the date and time for the Charlotte workshop are currently tentative. EDIT (08/19/2013): The Charlotte workshop is now confirmed!
