The North Carolina Open Government Coalition is offering a Sunshine Day event at McKimmon Center in Raleigh on March 11, 2013. The main event lasts from Noon to 4:00 p.m. and features speakers that include veteran journalists, government officials from North Carolina, and numerous experts and advocates for open government. There is a pre-conference session on the topic of responding to records requests from 10:30-11:30 a.m. also at the McKimmon Center. There is no additional charge to attend this session, which will be led by UNC School of Government professor Fleming Bell and North Carolina Press Association General Counsel Amanda Martin.
There will also be a panel on the UNC football scandal and a panel called “Government Gets It Right” with representatives from Rowan County, the City of Raleigh, and Guilford County.
