I encourage all state agency employees to register for the upcoming NC Digital Summit to be held August 29 and 30 at the North Raleigh Hilton Hotel. This is a free conference sponsored by the NC Office of Information Technology Services.
The conference, open only to public-sector employees, covers a wide variety of timely topics on information technology with excellent speakers and sessions. This year’s agenda features topics on social media, cloud hybrids, and managing your mobile device, among others These topics should be of key interest to all state employees who use mobile devices, social media, or are ‘outsourcing’ records to the cloud, such as using google/gmail for housing government records. And to help ensure that you follow best practices when using social media, text messaging, and similar forms of communication, please refer to the best practice guidelines issued by the Department of Cultural Resources located at www.records.ncdcr.gov and in particular at http://www.records.ncdcr.gov/guides/best_practices_socialmedia_stateagency_finalv2_20120307.pdf
And as always, there will be two keynote speakers who always command your attention. This year has the former Director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Jefferson “Beak” Howell speaking on Leadership and author and speaker hall of fame member, Tim Gard will kick off the conference with a motivational presentation on Change the Game. Registration and agenda details are available at http://events.govtech.com/events/northcarolinadgs2012
Hope to see you there.
